Hyundai Motor Group took center stage at the 16th Clean Energy Ministerial (CEM16) and the APEC Energy Summit in Busan, highlighting hydrogen as a cornerstone of the global clean energy transition. The automaker used the platform to present its hydrogen business strategy, showcase real-world projects, and provide a fleet of all-new NEXO fuel cell SUVs as official vehicles for ministers attending the event.
Hyundai pushes hydrogen as key to decarbonization

During two high-level dialogues, Hyundai executives emphasized hydrogen’s role in cutting industrial emissions, improving energy efficiency, and strengthening resilience in the global energy supply. Ken Ramirez, head of the company’s Energy & Hydrogen Business Division, urged stronger public-private partnerships to accelerate the adoption of hydrogen in both mobility and industrial applications.
Hyundai outlined several ongoing projects, including hydrogen-powered car transporters at Pyeongtaek Port, logistics initiatives under its HTWO hydrogen brand, and global collaborations such as NorCAL ZERO in California. The company also spotlighted future technologies like waste-to-hydrogen systems and electrolysis hubs, designed to improve hydrogen production efficiency and build local hydrogen economies.
NEXO fuel cell vehicles debut as official state transport

To support the summit, Hyundai provided 32 units of the all-new NEXO FCEV — the first time fuel cell electric vehicles have been used as state vehicles at an international ministerial event. The NEXO delivers a driving range of up to 700 kilometers on a five-minute charge and features a 150 kW electric motor, setting new benchmarks for passenger FCEV performance.
This move reinforced Hyundai’s track record of deploying eco-friendly fleets at global gatherings, including the ASEAN Summit, FIFA World Cup, and G20 Bali Summit. Through its HTWO hydrogen brand, Hyundai continues to expand fuel cell infrastructure and mobility solutions, underscoring its goal of building a comprehensive hydrogen ecosystem.
