10 High-Performance Cars You Can Still Drive Daily

High-performance cars are some of the best in the automotive world. Fast, powerful, and outlandish, they are works of engineering brilliance and, in some cases, are also works of art. However, many are impractical to drive on a daily basis. But not all of them, as there are a handful you can comfortably drive every day of the week.

This list contains ten of the best of those that can be used as daily drivers. Some make more sense than others, but we’ve based this list on the amount of cabin space they offer and how comfortable they are to be in on a regular basis.

The recently launched McLaren GT is the British company’s latest attempt at a Grand Tourer, which is precisely what makes it such a good daily driver performance car. McLaren took the covers off the GT in 2023, and under the hood, it packs a mighty 4.0-liter M840TE twin-turbocharged V8 making 612 horsepower.

The seven-speed dual-clutch transmission makes gear changing easy, and its 3.1-second 0-60 mph time will get you up to speed quickly. However, at over $200,000, the McLaren GT is hardly a cheap offering!

The Mazda MX-5 Miata has been a top sports car for decades, and Mazda has continued to evolve it over the years. The latest edition is one of the most affordable performance cars money can buy.

The 2.0-liter four-cylinder Skyactiv G engine packs 181 horsepower and 151 lb-ft of torque. It is punchy and agile, but it’s also comfortable. It is incredibly fuel efficient, with 30 MPG combined, adding to its day-to-day versatility.

Toyota GR Supra

Toyota’s GR range has gone from strength to strength over the years, with the GR Supra highlighting that since its launch in 2019. Under the hood is a 382 horsepower, 368 lb-ft of torque 3.0-liter six-cylinder engine, allowing for a 0-60 mph time of 3.9 seconds.

The GR Supra has a six-speed manual transmission and an eight-speed automatic. It is one of the best bargain-performance cars on the market. Thanks to its BMW underpinnings and Toyota build quality, the Supra is comfortable, quiet, and incredibly reliable.

The incredible Cadilac CT5-V Blackwing has no right to be as good as it is. It may cost you, but you get one hell of a machine for the money, thanks to its 6.2-liter supercharged V8 engine that makes 668 horsepower and 659 lb-ft of torque.

But the Blackwing has more than just high power going for it. The Blackwing is ultra-reliable, super comfortable, and very spacious, thanks to its sedan design. Plus, it’s one of the best-looking cars in Cadilac’s current line up.

Aston Martin DBS

Possibly the most incredible production car Aston Martin currently makes, the DBS is a wild, ferocious animal. Its twin-turbocharged V12 engine produces an astonishing 715 horsepower, which is plenty for some incredibly high speeds. However, the DBS is also just as luxurious as you would expect from an Aston Martin.

The DBS is a gorgeous car to look at. Inside, it has plenty of equipment, high-quality materials, and comfortable seats that make it an excellent Grand Tourer. If you spend a lot of time in the DBS, you will feel right at home.

The Nissan GT-R won’t be with us for much longer, with Nissan due to phase the car out of production. But while it is still on sale, you can get your hands on one of the most fantastic performance cars money can buy.

With the GT-R you get a mighty 3.8-liter twin-turbocharged V6 engine, pumping out 565 horsepower and 467 lb-ft of torque. The GT-R also looks superb and has done well throughout its entire production run, and the world will be a poorer place when the end is finally here.

Nissan Z

Another superb offering from Nissan is its latest sports car, the Nissan Z. The Z is more affordable than some of its rivals, such as the Toyota GR Supra, and it has plenty of power to back it up.

Under the hood is a twin-turbocharged V6 engine that produces 400 horsepower. With a six-speed manual transmission as the only option, the Z is a gearhead’s dream and one that packs plenty of punch. In the corners, the Z is equally at home, and it produces one of the best sports car experiences money can currently buy.

BMW M3 Touring

Sadly, the BMW M3 Touring will not be available in the United States—at least not officially. This is a crying shame, as it is by far and away one of the best performance station wagons ever made and perfect for daily driving.

The M3 Touring looks incredible and packs a mighty 3.0-liter inline-six engine making 530 horsepower, which is way beyond what any everyday driver would make. This leads to a 0-62 mph time of just 3.6 seconds. Being a station wagon, the M3 Touring is also very practical, offering much more space compared to rivals such as the Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio.

Honda Civic Type R

The Honda Civic Type R is a remarkable machine. It combines the reliability and practicality of the standard Civic with the poise and performance of a sports car. Under the hood, the Civic Type R has a 2.0-liter inline-four turbo engine, making 315 horsepower and 310 lb-ft of torque.

The 0-60 mph time is just 5.8 seconds, and the top speed is an eye-watering 170 mph. The Type R has plenty of space inside, is comfortable for a performance vehicle, and has a six-speed manual transmission, making it an enthusiast’s dream.

Although the Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio is not as practical as the BMW M3 Touring, it’s still an excellent performance sedan. Its 2.9-liter twin-turbocharged V6 engine produces 520 horsepower and 446 lb-ft of torque.

Plus, just look at it. It’s a work of art, as most Alfa Romeos are, and it is certainly better looking than the M3 Touring. An eight-speed automatic transmission makes driving a breeze, and luckily, it has the comfort to match its incredible power levels.
