Ducati’s 2027 Panigale V4 revs to 15,000 rpm in second through fifth gear and makes 218 hp

The 2027 Ducati Panigale V4 lets its 1,103 cc V4 rev to 15,000 rpm in second through fifth gear. At the same time, Ducati claims 218 horsepower for the superbike in European trim. That is a small bump on paper, but Ducati spread the gain across the top of the rev range.

This is an update, not a new generation. Instead, Ducati reworked the engine’s top end, the gearing, the front frame and the winglets. As a result, the company says the bike laps its test track faster on average than the model it replaces.

Here is what changed, what the 218 hp figure covers and when the bikes reach American dealers.

What changed on the 2027 Ducati Panigale V4

The engine is the Desmosedici Stradale, a 90-degree V4 with desmodromic valves, a counter-rotating crankshaft and Ducati’s Twin Pulse firing order. According to Ducati’s own technical page for the 2027 Panigale V4, displacement stays at 1,103 cc.

Rather than chasing one big peak number, Ducati added power across the top of the range. Specifically, it says the engine gains 2 hp everywhere between 12,000 and 14,000 rpm. At 13,000 rpm, however, the gain reaches 3.5 hp.

The intake changed, too. Ducati extended the lower edge of the front air duct by 70 mm. The company says that raises intake pressure by about 0.6 percent at 300 km/h, which is worth 1.3 hp at that speed.

A 15,000-rpm limiter and a longer final drive

Still, the headline change is the rev limiter. Ducati now lets the engine spin to 15,000 rpm in second through fifth gear, so riders can stay on the power curve longer before shifting.

The old limit was 14,500 rpm, according to Motorcycle.com’s first look at the 2027 Panigale V4 and V4 S. Cycle News likewise describes the change as a 500-rpm increase.

In addition, Ducati paired the higher limit with a longer final-drive ratio. Together, the two changes cut the number of gear changes on the tight, technical parts of a circuit, Ducati says.

What the 218 hp claim covers

Ducati lists 218 hp and 120.6 Nm of torque for both the Panigale V4 and the V4 S. Motorcycle.com reports the horsepower peak at 13,500 rpm and labels both figures as European-spec claims. It also gives torque as 88.9 lb-ft at 11,000 rpm.

American buyers should read that carefully. Cycle News’ first look repeats the 218 hp claim in its text. However, its spec table lists 209 hp at 12,750 rpm and doesn’t say which market that figure applies to.

For riders who want more, Ducati offers an Akrapovič PRO exhaust as an accessory. Ducati says it adds 11 hp and 7 Nm over the homologated figures and saves 6.6 kg. Even so, the company limits it to track use.

A softer front frame and new winglets

The chassis changes aim at grip when the bike leans over. First, Ducati cut the front frame’s lateral stiffness by 12 percent by machining its lower fastenings. According to Ducati, that improves grip and feel at high lean angles.

Aerodynamics changed as well. New dual-profile winglets with larger endplates sit in the fairing, and Motorcycle.com describes them as a biplane design. Meanwhile, the Hollow Symmetrical swingarm carries over in a new black finish.

Overall, Ducati puts the payoff at four tenths of a second. Its Australian news release describes an “average lap time improvement of 0.4 seconds at Vallelunga” compared with the previous model.

Weight, colors, price and arrival

Ducati lists the base 2027 Ducati Panigale V4 at 191 kg (421 pounds) wet without fuel. The V4 S weighs 187 kg (412 pounds), in part because its forged aluminum wheels save 2.17 kg over the cast wheels.

Buyers also get more color choices. Through its Factory Made program, Ducati offers 11 colors, including five shades from Automobili Lamborghini’s Ad Personam program. There are also Performance and Corse liveries.

In the U.S., Cycle News lists the V4 S at $35,995. Meanwhile, Motorcycle.com lists the base V4 at $27,995 and reports that European dealers get the bikes in March 2027. Both outlets agree on the American date: the 2027 Panigale V4 and V4 S reach North American Ducati dealers in April 2027.
